WHAT IS FIREFIGHTERS FOR CHRIST?
Firefighters For Christ was established in January 1976,
at a breakfast meeting in Southern California.
In June of 1978, Firefighters For Christ became international
and was established as an incorporated organization.
Its non-profit tax exemption is classified
under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Its purposes are:
• To glorify God in the Fire Service.
• To fellowship together for individual growth in the Christian life.
• To serve the cause of Christ through the church of one's own choice.
• To encourage those in the fire service in their Christian life.
• To bring all Christians in the fire service to a common goal of praying for the fire service and its members.
• To be perfected in unity so that the world will know that God has sent His Son Jesus Christ. John 17:23.
WINSTON-SALEM/FORSYTH COUNTY
FIREFIGHTERS FOR CHRIST
After several months of prayer and online research,
Brent Stokes, a City of Winston-Salem firefighter,
found what he had been looking for.
Early one morning, after a restless night,
he walked into the bay area and asked God,
"What do You want me to do?"
The words -- firefighters for Christ -- finally came to him.
He did an online search and found
Firefighters for Christ.
He liked the foundations of the organization
and learned they only had one chapter in North Carolina.
He contacted the international headquarters and they said,
"they were waiting on his call."
Brent contacted a fellow firefighter, Chris Langham,
about his research and he was eager to start a local chapter.
Robert Lakey and David Penry were also contacted about joining.
With the officers in place, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Chapter
of Firefighters for Christ was officially recognized on
September 16, 2009.
